There was no Parish Council meeting in December, so this report deals with November matters.
The meeting heard from PC Paul Hancock from the Neighbourhood Policing Team that Weston-sub-Edge continues to be a very low crime area with an average of one crime per month. The main “hotspot” is the car park on Dover’s Hill. One of the main concerns in the North Cotswolds is planned burglaries in properties that have been watched over a period of days or weeks. If you see any suspicious vehicles please phone 101 to make a report. 101 is also the number for any other issues that you need to raise.
Members discussed planning concerns with Lynden Stowe. He explained that, owing to relaxed government guidelines on building density, the development currently in progress on Stratford Road is appropriate to requirements. There was more concern about the work progressing at Canonbourne where planning permission has not yet been granted. Members of the Council have this work under review.
The outside of the telephone box on Church Street has been refurbished. When the weather improves shelves will be fitted and the box used as a book exchange facility. There will also be a container for used stamps and some tourist information.
Used stamps can also be dropped off at Hartwells where they are collected for charity.
Good use is being made of the children’s playground. The equipment is checked on a regular basis and it has been noted that the matting around the multi-activity goal mouth has needed attention. If your children are using this area and there is a problem please let us know.
If you have anything you would like to discuss with a member of the Parish Council we would welcome your views or your attendance at a council meeting. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7.15 p.m. in the Village Hall with the exception of August and December.
The next meeting of the Parish Council is scheduled for Tuesday 25thFebruary 2019 at 7.15 p.m. and the agenda will be posted on the Village Notice Board in the bus shelter and on the village website, www.westonsubedge.com.
