PC Minutes 23-4-2019

(Last Updated On: June 16, 2019)

The Annual Parish Meeting was held prior to the Parish Council Meeting on Tuesday 28thMay and reports received from several of the organisations in the parish.   A Police report indicated that there had been 21 incidents in the parish during the year, a small increase on the 19 of last year.  Councillor Lynden Stowe, having stood down as a District Councillor, attended the meeting in his capacity as County Councillor.  He mentioned the loss of the District Council Conservative majority to the Liberal Party.  He was pleased that there had been fewer potholes than in the recent past as a result of the warmer winter and also announced that Harris Lane is on the schedule for re-surfacing this year.  It was reported that there are grants for youth provision available from both the District and County Councils and these will be investigated.  The Chairman thanked Councillor Stowe for his regular attendance at Parish Council meetings and for all his work on behalf of the parish and made it clear that he will be welcome at future meetings when his work for the County Council permits.

At the Parish Council Meeting that followed the Annual Parish Meeting Bill Carruthers was re-elected Chairman and the minutes from the meeting held on 23rdApril were approved and signed.

There were no new planning applications but the council resolved to continue to monitor developments on the Bramleys site and at Canonbourne.

The village asset register was reviewed and amended to include the vehicle activated signage.  It was felt that the VAR on Church Street had had some impact on the speed of vehicles, with the majority obeying the 30 m.p.h. limit. Inevitably some speeds were felt to be considerably in excess of the limit but these were a small minority. It was agreed that data from the VAR should be downloaded periodically to provide more detailed information.

The Clerk had compiled a list of tasks for the Lengthsman’s programme for 2019-20 but would also attempt to discover the likely timing of the annual visits to complete the work requested.

It was agreed that the verges need re-seeding where Thames Water have carried out work and the clerk was asked to contact the company to progress this.

A Family Fun Day was fixed for Saturday 7thSeptember on the Recreation Ground from 2.00 p.m. Arrangements for a barbecue, bar and music were in hand and the provision of a range of garden games is to be investigated.

Minutes of all Parish Council meetings are posted on the village website, www.westonsubedge.com.  The next meetings are scheduled for Tuesday 25th June and Tuesday 23rd July at 7.30 p.m. The agenda will be posted on the Village Notice Board in the bus shelter. All residents are welcome to attend.
